Who we are
Bark Bus is a dog-adventure service operating from Cuerden Valley Bark Park in Lancashire. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use bark-bus.co.uk or book an adventure, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
Questions about this policy, or about your data, go to woof@bark-bus.co.uk.
What we collect
From you: name, email, phone number, home and collection address, postcode, and payment details (handled directly by our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number).
From your dog's profile: name, breed, a photo, and vaccination records (either an uploaded certificate or a self-certified date), so we can confirm they're fit to travel and get on with other dogs.
While an adventure runs: pickup and drop-off GPS location for the bus, so you can track the journey and we can plan the route.
Automatically:basic usage data (pages visited, approximate location from IP, device type) via analytics cookies — only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Necessary cookies (keeping you signed in, remembering your booking in progress) run regardless, since the site doesn't work without them.
Why we collect it
- To create your account and your dog's profile, and confirm they're safe to travel.
- To take payment and provide the adventure you've booked.
- To collect from and return to the right address, and text you the morning of an adventure with the bus's ETA.
- To send booking confirmations, reminders, and — only if you've opted in — offers and news.
- To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it.
- To meet our own legal and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with the services that make Bark Bus work, each acting under their own privacy terms:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Supabase — our database, authentication and file storage (dog photos, vaccination certificates).
- Resend — sending booking, account and (where you've opted in) marketing emails.
- Google Maps — route planning and address lookup.
- PostHog — analytics, only with your cookie consent.
We may also disclose data where required by law, or to protect the safety of a dog, a customer, or our team.
How long we keep it
We keep account, booking and dog data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet our accounting and legal obligations. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove what we can and retain only what we're legally required to (e.g. transaction records).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data we hold on you, have it corrected, have it deleted, object to how it's used, or ask for a copy in a portable format. Email woof@bark-bus.co.uk and we'll respond as quickly as we can. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Marketing
We only email you offers, giveaways or news if you've actively opted in — at signup, through a giveaway, or by claiming a discount code. Every marketing email tells you how to stop receiving them, and you can ask us directly at any time.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be flagged to account holders.
